Portraits for Peace

Congress, get the picture!

Saturday, January 27, 2007
11:30am
Gather at Tower Grove Park (corner of Grand & Arsenal)

Be part of a group photo rain, snow or shine.
Hot drinks & follow up at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3664 Arsenal

The Details:
We will start with a group photo in the park. When the photo is done, we will walk 1/2 block to church where we will warm up with coffee and cocoa, provided by Mokabe's. Inside, there will be a place to fill out cards to send to congress, onto which we will attach a copy of the group photo (don't forget to circle your picture!). There also will be an open art project and organization tables staffed by peace and justice groups so folks can catch up on what's happening in the area. During the afternoon, we will enjoy hearing from a representative for Jeanette Mott Oxford, who will read her MO Anti-Iraq Escalation House Resolution. We will end the day with a learning opportunity and introduction of an upcoming peace project co-sponsored by a few different peace and justice organizations.

Photo participants who are unable to join us at St. John's will be welcome to fill out a card at Tower Grove Park before leaving. Copies of the photo will be made available to participants after the Saturday event on www.myspace.com/portraitsforpeace

Can't make it Saturday? Do your own group photo and send us a copy!

Make sure congress sees the faces behind the calls for peace. Take a photo of your family, group of friends, church group, etc, then each of you attach a copy of the photo to a card and write a note to your senator and/or representative to let them know how you feel. Send us a copy when you do it and we'll try to get you posted on the website!
